nine wooden signs, 55x70cm, by a trail in forest
One's relationship to nature is always socially constructed. How one perceives and defines nature tells more about oneself than about nature. Concepts of nature reflect concepts of society and human existence.
Nature refers to those nature trails that can often be found in national parks and in nature conservation areas. Nature trails consist of trails by which there are wooden signs that aim inform and to activate the passer-by. I was interested in nature trails as a form of conveying information, concepts of nature and norms. In Nature I combined typical nature trail sign phrasing and themes with absurd content to deconstruct and play with typical nature-related rhetorics.
