HANDS

2007

performance/installation
duration: two weeks, six hours a day.

Oude Kerk, Amsterdam. A small room with a lamp and a bench. In the wall opposite the bench there were my hands coming through a wall. The hands were hanging limp and not responding in any way if they were touched. I was sitting behind the wall. I was not able to see the viewers, and they were not able to see me. One could close the door of the small room and be in the room, uninterrupted, as long as one wished for, and to do with the hands whatever one wanted to.
